Breathwork

Breathwork forms the foundation of everything we do at Monkey One.

Breath is the most fundamental and human of all functions. It is also the most direct way to influence the nervous system. The way we breathe shapes how we respond to pressure, how quickly we recover from challenge, and how available we are for clear thinking, emotional regulation, and effective leadership. When intensity becomes constant, breath is often the first thing to change — becoming shallow, fast, or restricted — and performance quietly follows.

Over time, compromised breathing patterns contribute to chronic activation. Focus narrows. Reactivity increases. Recovery becomes incomplete. Even highly capable individuals and teams can find themselves operating below their potential, not because of a lack of skill or intent, but because their nervous system is never given the chance to reset.

Monkey One uses practical, evidence-based breathwork to support regulation, recovery, and sustained performance. This work helps individuals and teams learn how to change state — deliberately downshift when pressure is high, restore balance between periods of intensity, and access clarity rather than pushing through at increasing internal cost.

Breathwork is not about relaxation for its own sake; it is about building the capacity to meet challenge with resilience, presence, and choice.

We follow the practice of the A.R.T of breathing:

Awareness of breath
- developing the ability to check in with your breath at any time to monitor your state.

Regulation of breath
- applying different breathing techniques to change your state.

Transformation of breath
- practising conscious breathwork as trauma and stress release. (strictly under supervision)
